This is a perfect point. I grew up in this area and still live/work here. I think it’s a good place to raise a family. The community is friendly, there are PLENTY of things to do and see. Shopping/retail is fine, I don’t think you’ll come up wanting in that department. I personally am very happy with the schools. We have young children who attend Cobb public schools and they are really, really good. Especially the elementary and high schools, we really couldn’t be happier. The police are historically pretty proactive, but this has noticeably changed post 2020. They are still very well funded. The one major bee in my bonnet with west Cobb is the traffic. So much so that it’s almost a deal breaker for me. Basically all that is being built around here are apartments, townhouses, and self storage joints. There has been a major influx of new people here in the last ten years, and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, is being done to the roads to accommodate (with the exception of widening 120 going into Paulding). The traffic has become a major issue. I’m not joking, there are times during the day/evening that you will need 10 minutes to go 2 miles. I moved here in the mid 80’s and a drive across town took about 5 minutes, now it will take you 2 or 3 times that. All and all I feel like this is a great place to raise a family. I moved away in the mid 90’s to do my own thing, and wound up buying a house and moving back to west Cobb 20 years later so that my family could be raised here. Of course, this is just my two cents for what it’s worth. Hope you have a great day. You can dm me if you have any more specific questions about the area. I’ve been here on and off for the last forty years.

It's a pretty safe area as you are right by county law enforcement services.
Good accessibility to areas around, you have pretty good places to go in most directions. Marietta square less than 10 minutes. Dallas hwy/Avenues/Barrett for a lot of shopping/food 10-15 min. Smyrna food 10-15 min. Very close Kroger and Publix
It's also pretty good for multiple ways to access interstate. About 15min to get to 75 Delk/Windy Hill or 15min to 285 via eastwest conn, or 15 min to I-20 Thornton area. Really useful if you need to access atlanta or travel frequently as you have a lot of options to avoid traffic if possible.
As others have said, it is a very wide range of neighborhoods. Trailer parks to nice homes that back up to state park land.
You sometimes have to contend with traffic or noise based on how close to Jim Miller Park you are in that circle. The traffic has gotten better due to better planning this year with the state fair but could always get better or worse. Holidays have lots of fireworks sometimes due to the trailer park and can go wayctoo late at times.
School zoning can be a little odd. All of that circle goes to a pretty good elementary school. After that anything south of powder springs rd is zoned for smyrna schools and aren't very desirable. North is hillgrove/lovinggood and are great schools but are decently far away to the northwest(if your commute is toward atlanta can be rough)

i live in marietta. my spouse and i are early 30s/late 20s, and most of our neighbors are retired. mostly really good people as long as you don't bring up politics. pretty white overall but becoming more diverse. over age 65 or thereabouts, you get a tax cut in cobb county, so old folks have a stranglehold of sorts. but there's stuff to do downtown, the braves (although i still miss turner field and refuse to get over it as my one crank stance), and atlanta is full of stuff to do/isn't too far (and isn't nearly as crime infested as the reputation, although certainly there's places you shouldn't go without a good reason for being there, but that was true for me growing up in the sticks too). also, as frustrating as the right wingers can be in cobb, they're somewhat tame compared to, say, cherokee county, which is wall to wall let's go brandon/maga stuff.
