LookyLOO Review of Living in Peachtree City

Living in Peachtree City, GA

Peachtree City is one of the Atlanta metro’s most unusual and/or distinctive suburbs. Built as a planned community, it’s famous for its 90+ miles of golf cart paths that connect all of the neighborhoods, schools, shopping centers, and parks.

The layout encourages a slower pace and outdoor living, while its tree-filled setting and multiple lakes give it a resort-like vibe. It’s consistently ranked among the best places to live in Georgia thanks to the excellent schools and quality of life. The city’s location in Fayette County puts it within reasonable reach of the airport and southside job hubs, while keeping it removed from the bustle of Atlanta proper.

Lifestyle in Peachtree City

Life in Peachtree City revolves around outdoor activity(much on the golf carts) and community amenities that run throughout the planned neighborhoods. Locals use golf carts for everyday errands, creating a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.

There are three main lakes—Lake Peachtree, Lake Kedron, and Lake McIntosh—offering boating, fishing, and scenic walking trails. Shopping is spread among several mixed-use village centers, each has grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and outdoor play and relaxation areas. The community also does quite a bit together, through festivals, farmers' markets, and sports and recreation leagues. Housing includes older, established single-family homes and newer developments that include townhomes, all nestled among greenbelts.

Most local jobs are in local retail businesses or the healthcare and education sectors. Many locals, though, commute to nearby business hubs.

Fayetteville’s Pinewood Forest/Trilith Studios complex brings opportunities in film production and related industries. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 25–30 minutes away, making it an attractive home base for frequent travelers. While the city itself is not a major employment center, remote and hybrid workers find it easy to stay connected while enjoying a quieter environment.

Middle schools include Booth and Rising Starr, feeding into McIntosh High School and Starr’s Mill High School—both of which rank among the best in the state for academics, arts, and athletics. There are also private and charter options nearby for families seeking alternatives.

It’s a great area for families. The golf carts are fun. The schools are great. It’s a small place and there isn’t much to do at all. But there’s an amphitheater that has summer concerts and there’s a brewery that people seem to like. We do have a Night Market sometimes and also Senoia isn’t far and it has some festivals and night entertainment. There’s also newnan which isn’t far and has lots of restaurants and shopping. But night life - no. You’ll have to head up to ATL for that.

As for apartments, my daughter lived in Balmoral. It was decent. She didn’t like it bec they were on the bottom floor. But she ended up moving to a rental home. Houses are sooo expensive in PTC and they just didn’t have money to buy in the area. They’re waiting to buy elsewhere. I think the apartments in Kedron look nice.

Good luck. I think it’s a great place for families. I raised all 3 of mine here and they want to live here as well with their families when they’re at that point in life.
