What's it like to live in Mesquite?

There’s decent parks and city pool, we have the mall/target shopping area that’s pretty nice but busy. It’s cheaper than garland or Dallas to live in with being close to the city with 635 to hop on for your commute. There’s some nice neighborhoods and a lot that are old and worn down. I feel like there’s not many large trees? Lots of trash around I wish was taken care of better. Overall I’m enjoying living here, check out neighborhoods going left down Cartwright off of 635, good parks and neighborhoods in that area.

Bought a home in northwest mesquite in November 2019 and don’t regret it. The city is working really hard to create a great downtown culture. They started a Farmer’s Market that is incredible. Best burgers is Porky’s of Gus Thomason and Oates. Bear Cave has exceptional coffee. The Town East area is on the cusp of a renaissance with Elm Creek Real Estate group proposing a redevelopment of the area. I loved here cause a dear friend grew up in the area and always raved about the small town feel even being so close to Dallas. Time has taken its toll on the city, but a recent hire of an established Community Development Director by the City of Mesquite will help to bring it back.

I’ve had a pretty good experience with Mesquite. It’s a nice place with friendly people and lots of stores and restaurants around, so it’s easy to find what you need. I liked the parks and how it feels like a good place for families.

What I didn’t like as much was the traffic, it can get really busy sometimes. Also, some areas could use a little fixing up or more fun things to do.

Overall, it’s a decent place to live or visit. Not perfect, but pretty good!
