Imo id say stay and raise your kid in the city. The city is better for socializing, raising your kid to be independent, and a better culture and diversity.

But if your set on moving to the richest whitest place in the bay here is what I’d rank and why.

Larkspur: lots of families, close to the ferry terminal (so you can drop your kid off in the city and go to work), some malls and such and an ok amount of shops. Lots of bike paths etc etc

Corte Madera: also close to ferry terminal, lots of families live there for the school district. Lots of cute shops and malls. Easy access to Stinson and hikes in general.

Mill Valley: on average a shorter commute into the city, tons of cute shops and coffee places, easy access to hikes, good amount of bike paths and parks

Greenbrae/Kentfield: centrally Marin, in high demand as the school system is one of the best public ones in the state, tons of bike paths, an average amount of stores and cafés, an average commute

San anselmo/Fairfax: arguably the cutest towns in Marin, tons of cafes and shops. An ok public school system and a longer commute into the city otherwise it would be higher on the list

Larkspur vs. Tiburon?

Yeah, it’s not really a contest, particularly for a couple in your thirties. Larkspur places you centrally in the county, with everything Marin has to offer relatively close at hand. Tiburon’s off to the side on its own peninsula, where getting in or out involves a longish jaunt down a single main road.

Given your age and budget parameters, you’ll probably get more out of life living in Larkspur. Save Tiburon for when you’re older, and when you’ve hit a jackpot or two and want to buy an impressive property. That’s Tiburon’s strength: spectacular homes, without much going on outside them.

Definitely depends where in Larkspur you're talking…closer to downtown Larkspur, or closer to the Marin Country Mart (I wouldn't pick that). I would pick Larkspur downtown because you can easily get to the best of Mill Valley, Corte Madera, and the rest of central marin. It never gets particularly hot in Larkspur. Tiburon is beautiful but feels a little bit more limited and takes longer to get in and out with the limited road access. Both have great proximity to the outdoors.
