What's it like to live in Tega Cay?

Tega Cay is a nice area to raise a family with pretty good schools. Not much area left to develop, so the market is tight with mainly existing homes. No clue what your realtor is talking about.
You should also check out Lake Wylie. Parts of the area can be a difficult commute, so just be sure to map it out.
It was on our shortlist of towns in the area to consider as well. Fort Mill & Clover are also worth visiting. Fort Mill has arguably the best schools in York County & all of SC. York County is the top school district in SC & many families choose this area vs. areas in NC.
Rock Hill is nice too, but I would highly consider private school if you were to go this route. This is ultimately where we landed after touring several private schools.
Other towns are just too far of a commute to Charlotte IMO. 77 gets backed up in the morning starting at 7 and gets better around 8. Leaving at 6:45 or 8:15 will result in a 30-35 min commute, instead of an hour. The commute back in the afternoon is hit or miss, but normally about 30 min after 5:45.

I love the feel of being on the peninsula. We looked at several homes there during our hunt but ultimately ended up buying elsewhere in town. Tega Cay Elementary has fantastic metrics but parents have complained to me about overcrowding.
A nice benefit of living in Tega Cay is that they tend to run their own youth sports leagues which are often more competitive than the ones run by the town of Fort Mill. Plus shorter drive to get the kids to the fields.

Tega Cay is like this in the Spring:
You drive in on the winding, tree-lined road and wonder if you've entered a wholesome Rockwell painting. Kids and families are out playing, the trails are full of folks walking under the blue sky. Parks crop up every few blocks, the lake shines in the sun, and the golf course is rolling hills of soft green grass.
Bam, next thing you know, your husband is putting on plaid pants to golf, and you're wondering if you're about to have an existential crisis of Stepford magnitude - or if you should embrace the suburban peace whilst requesting a Trader Joes beside the Earth Fare for the 3rd time for your 2.5 kids.
You debate on if it's the Southern town charm of Andy Griffith's Mayberry -- or the frenzied drunk charm of Savannah's queer community a la Clint Eastwood's "In The Midnight Of Good And Evil". (Tammy Faye would've fit right in!) And you muse - if a Housewives series ever starts - would you be NPC or MC?
