What's it like to live in Warwick?

Good: Access to PVD, South County and the rest of the state as well as central to all shopping/conveniences. Still relatively affordable. Pawtuxet village is a great little spot. Lots of coastline and parks like Rocky Point. Sophia’s, Apponaug brewing, Crusty’s pizza, Proclamation.

Bad: Lots of suburban sprawl. Airport in the middle of the city. Middle and high schools underperform.

Lived in Pawtuxet Village for 7 years. I absolutely love it. Close to everything, I work in Providence so its very easy for me to get to work. Close to grocery stores and big box stores. My neighbors are quiet. I'M close to the water. Highly reccomend the Whack.

Warwick
I'm a huge Warwick booster. I've lived in Rhode Island for 10 years. In that time, I've lived in four places. Three of them were in Warwick. That's not a coincidence. I could have lived anywhere but I've chosen Warwick repeatedly.

Pros:

Pretty much the best possible location within the state. Close to Providence, close to the attractions down south. In Cranston you're a little too far from South County and Newport for my liking; in North Kingstown you're a little too far from Providence. (East Greenwich is also a good balance, and it's the only other place where I've lived.)

It's got everything. All the shopping you want is right there.

Probably the best collection of parks in the state, from Goddard to City Park to Rocky Point to Conimicut Point to a bunch of great smaller ones.

Related but not quite the same thing: the water. Warwick is where the Providence River opens up into Narragansett Bay and the water is always there if you want it.

Great variety of residential neighborhoods. I like to say Warwick is a middle-class city. It ranges from lower middle class to upper middle class, but if you qualify as middle class, it's got something for you. Cowesett is my favorite residential neighborhood in the state.

Lived there for 16+ years. Good place to live if you're not originally from RI, not so "provincial" like Cranston, for e.g.

There are also some very handsome neighborhoods….the Love Lane part of Cowesett near EG, Old Buttonwoods, parts of Warwick Neck, Governor Francis, parts of Gaspee Plat. Plus, there are some nice properties in the more mainstream areas like Greenwood Proper, Buttonwoods, Hoxsie, and Spring Green.

The airport used to be much louder. Planes now make a lot less noise than in 2003, when I moved in.
