I spent 20 years living in Hollywood. While it started out fine, sadly I watched the neighborhood, building, and community deteriorate to the point where it began to have a negative effect on my mental health. After discovering Glendale through friends and work, and spending lots of time here, I fell in love. Glendale offers similar proximity to all of the things I've grown to enjoy with none of the negatives that were driving me mad. Glendale is cleaner, quieter, and feels more family friendly. Glendale is surrounded by natural beauty, is close to some great motorcycle roads, and has nice malls, movie theaters, parks, and restaurants. I like having the ability to find parking when going out or visiting a friend, and I like that Glendale is its own city and has its own resources. Last not least -- Cafe Bravo is delicious.

It's a safe friendly neighborhood with good restaurants and shops. People are nice most of the areas. Even tho the rent is ridiculous out here but I would rather pick Glendale safety over anything else. I've lived here since 1990 since I was a child and this is my home. I came from the ghetto of New York of the 80s this place has been best place. Met alot of good friends out here.

I like that you get a suburban feel and lots of parks and nature, while still being close to other parts of LA. I like that downtown Glendale is fun and safe, and I can ride my bike there in 10 minutes. I like that Glendale has its own city government (not city of LA), and our representatives are easily accessible and involved in the same organizations I am

Within Glendale, Brand Park is awesome. You've got the library, ball fields, lots of grass, and access to the hiking trails in the Verdugo Mountains. Adams Square Mini Park is tiny, but the community makes the most of it, and there are often cool things going on there. Verdugo Park is nice for hanging out with kids, and the skate park is cool. Up north, there's Crescenta Valley Park, which has a dog park too. And then there's Deukmejian Wilderness Park, which gives you access to cool hiking trails. The City of Glendale has led some guided nature hikes up there too.

While technically not in Glendale, Griffith Park is incredible, of course, and easily accessible. Hahamonga Watershed Park is also fairly close, and nice for shaded, flatter hiking and mountain biking. There's a lot of great stuff!
