Cranston is a city that believes in investing in its residents. As such, be prepared to live in a small and somewhat insular community if you move to Warwick; if you are someone who prefers a constantly evolving urban environment, another city might be more to your liking.

I’ve lived in Eden Park and grew up in Edgewood. I like it here. Edgewood is objectively the nicer neighborhood, but they’re similar in age and layout. Parts of Eden park are quite nice. Cranston is not progressive politically, if that’s what you mean, but you won’t have trouble finding like-minded people around. Eden Park has Rolfe Square for restaurants and shops, which has really turned around in the last several years. Garden City is also very close.

Providence is probably more your vibe, both politically and in terms of walkability. But avoiding major streets in a city isn’t going to happen. That being said, it’s an old city with narrow streets and is relatively pedestrian-friendly more times than not, so it’s not like you’re crossing four lane highways most of the time.

Eden Park/Rolfe Square is great. Quiet and walkable.

And there are the nearby restaurants, Dave’s Marketplace, and an overall friendly family vibe. Eden Park residents pay close attention to what’s happening in the neighborhood as there’s an elementary school nearby.

Very excited for the brewery coming to Rolfe Square.

My one gripe is that I wish there was a dog park and or more opportunities to meet more people my age group w/o kids.

Welcome to RI! I hope you like it, I think our little state has a lot to offer. I live in East Cranston by Rolfe Square, which may be considered a blue collar / middle class area. Not super nice, but not the slums. My son and I go bike riding all over with no issues, and my wife often goes running or walking alone without any concerns. Honestly, we actually love it here.
