LookyLOO Review of Living in Windsor, Colorado
Windsor sits between Fort Collins, Loveland, and Greeley and has grown into one of the fastest-growing new-build and family-friendly communities in Northern Colorado. It’s known for its clean, well-designed neighborhoods, good schools, lakes, parks, and easy access to the rest of the Front Range.
People move here for the space, newer homes, quiet streets, and the feeling that everything is organized and easy, from parks to grocery stores to community events. It’s suburban but not generic, thanks to the historic downtown core, Windsor Lake, which locals love for water play, Boardwalk Park, and a steady calendar of local events. It's a pretty dreamy spot for families looking for the outdoor beauty of Windsor combined with a downtown that isn't major, but gives locals a sense of place they love.
Windsor is also positioned well for commuters. You can reach Fort Collins, Loveland, or Greeley quickly, and I-25 is close enough for hybrid workers who head down to Longmont, Boulder, or even Denver a couple of days a week.

Lifestyle in Windsor
Windsor’s lifestyle is dominated by outdoor play at the numerous neighborhood parks, lakes and community recreation activities that run throughout the year. Locals spend a ton of time around Windsor Lake and Boardwalk Park, where trails, paddle rentals, summer concerts, and local festivals draw people from across the region.
Most neighborhoods are newer, planned communities with sidewalks and playgrounds throughout the blocks. The recreation center is a major hub for families, offering youth sports, fitness classes, aquatics, and year-round programming. The town also maintains extensive trail systems, including connections toward Severance and the surrounding areas.
Downtown Windsor has a smaller footprint than Fort Collins or Loveland, but it’s charming and walkable, with local restaurants, breweries, bakeries, and the beloved Hearth Restaurant & Pub. Weekly events like farmers' markets and seasonal festivals keep it active without being crowded.

Worklife in Windsor
Windsor’s worklife offers some local jobs but even more so easy access to larger employers in Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and the broader I-25 corridor. Many people live in Windsor for the newer homes and schools while working in one of the bigger job markets nearby.
Locally, the largest work sectors include education, healthcare, manufacturing, light industrial, professional services, and retail/hospitality. The school district (Weld RE-4), UCHealth and Banner clinics, Tolmar (pharmaceutical manufacturing), Vestas (near the Windsor/Greeley border), and a range of fabrication, distribution, design, and service companies anchor Windsor’s employment base. Commercial growth around I-25 continues to add more offices, logistics hubs, and professional-service firms.
Hybrid and remote work are extremely common here because homes are newer, neighborhoods are quiet, and it's easy to split time between home and regional offices. Most residents who need to commute simply choose the nearest major corridor, Fort Collins to the west, Loveland to the southwest, or Greeley to the east.
Remote & Hybrid Work
Remote workers have solid support in the region, especially if they prefer flexible work locations. Nearby coworking options include:
- desk chair workspace (Downtown Loveland)
- Cohere Coworking (Fort Collins area)
Overall, Windsor offers a balanced worklife: plenty of local jobs, quick access to larger employment centers, and strong support for working from home.

With having kids it is a no brainer. Windsor, Johnstown or Milliken. Severance is good as well. Just do not know about rentals. Stay away from Greeley. While there are areas that are not bad, and it has the benefit of Weld county. The schools suck, and you do not want to go farther south then HWY34 and east of 35th. Stay away from Loveland. Just way to many issues with the city. I'm addition to these places pick up the fence post magazine. Often you can find a rancher or farmer with an extra home that they rent out. I lived just north of Johnstown for 10 years in a farmers rental. Was about 500 cheaper then town, plus I was able to go out and use the non farmed land. About 500 acres.
