What's it like to live in Tiburon?

I'm an unapologetic and unabashed lover of downtown Tiburon. MV is a scene, lots of keeping up with the Jones of parents trying to be cool. LOL Downtown Tib is just a sleepy, cute little town. It's a chore to also make people stop stereotyping it when they've not been here for 15+ years and the town has changed a lot. As for access to restaurants and all that Mill Valley has, without being in the thick of traffic and trendy stuff, we're talking about 15 minutes from downtown Tiburon. Also, from downtown Tiburon, it's about 30 minutes into SF to get to a comedy club, and it was just 34 minutes to get to the UC Theatre in Berkeley tonight. Don't let anyone tell you downtown MV is easier commute/traffic wise than downtown Tiburon: they both have peak hours around school times that SUCK… So, the traffic in and out of Tiburon at school time + contractor coming and going is a pain.
THE FERRY IS A GLORIOUS WAY TO TRAVEL, and not an option that would make sense coming from Mill Valley. It gives a wonderful intermezzo or palette cleanser from family on the way to work, and from work on the way home. Cool little commuter crowd and there's a bar on board, so people usually have a glass of wine, wind down on the 30 min commute, and have that deep breath between work and getting home, vs grinding it out in traffic.
Tiburon is waterfront. Think of the two as "South of France" in Tib, vs "Boulder, Colorado" small town under a mountain type vibe with Mill Valley. Tib is sleepier, less restaurants and stores (but main street isn't really as touristy as people think and ark row is pretty meat and potatoes with some normal stores). Tib has two STELLAR grocery stores with Woodlands and Nugget

Can't decide between moving to Tiburon or Mill Valley. Pros/cons for each place? Have a one year old. Commuting to SF 3x a week.

I live in Tiburon but take my kid to kinder in Mill Valley and my significant other works in SF 3x a week as well. The traffic getting in and out of MV is a nightmare much of the time, but a lot of kid activities take place there like parades, MV Little League, and stuff like that. I really wish there were a way to bike to MV without having to cross the freeway! That stuff won’t come into play until your kid is a bit older though.
Tiburon is much better for the commute because of the ferry. My SO bikes or skateboards along the Old Rail Trail to catch the ferry to the city. It is more challenging in rainy weather because when driving Tiburon Blvd gets backed up during school hours and later in the afternoons. However, I don’t experience that much bc I don’t live downtown. A lot of people think it’s just rich old white people but I know a ton of young families here.
The only other place I would consider moving in Marin is Larkspur if I could walk to downtown, or possibly San Anselmo but that’s super far from the city. Being near the water is so lovely and it’s never horribly hot in Tiburon (except a few days per year). Unfortunately you do deal with a reputation of being rich and snobby but I would say the vast majority of people I encounter who live in Tiburon are just normal people living their lives in a pretty place.

I’ve lived in Tiburon before. There are lots of families and lots of kids. As a broad generalization, people are very wealthy, very busy, and can be more status oriented and less friendly than in the Midwest. That being said, it’s a beautiful place to live, there are genuinely friendly people, and it sounds like a fun opportunity. Be sure to check out Friday Nights on Main Street, the wine festival, the classic car show, the Ranch community center, and Paradise Park.
