What's it like to live in Pflugerville?

The advantage Pflugerville has is that it's safe, quiet, and not crowded, and you have all the staples in close proximity. From my house I'm within 7 minutes or less of CostCo, Walmart, Target, H-E-B, Home Depot, and other similar stuff. If my kids forget to close the garage and it stays open overnight nothing will be missing in the morning. We don't lock our front door. There's never traffic going anywhere in town, and we're right at the 130, which is a toll road so it's traffic-free.

When we want to go to Round Rock, it's a 15-minute drive. Downtown Austin is 25 minutes or less.

Now, you're 24, and you've been in New York City, so perhaps you won't like the quiet, slow pace here. There is nothing here, and nothing in Austin, either, that remotely approximates NY.

You're also going to have to give up a lot of food options if you come here.

Pizza. We have a couple places that do a halfway decent version of NY style pizza, but no more Di Fara, no more John's, no more Patsy's…

We're very happy here. We're a 20 minute drive from the heart of Austin, and 15 from Round Rock, but get to live a peaceful, safe existence. Every amenity you want is minutes away, traffic is nonexistent… you could do a lot worse. If you want nightlife it's not the town for you, but I think most of us moved here to get away from that. We can drive 20 minutes if we want that, but with nothing to bring people here we avoid a lot of problems.

Pf west of 130 is a great area. Traffic into Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park and other places isn’t too terrible and there are multiple routes you can take. There are plenty of amenities without being in the middle of everything, and the parks systems are great.

Pf east of 130 seems to be a pain to get in and out of. You only have one or two roads in and out, and you have to take toll roads to get anywhere reliably. They also seem to have some infrastructure issues with water, power, and internet.

Schools in Pf are doing their best. Most public education in Texas is suffering, right now, so unless you find those few oasis’s that have proper funding (and can afford to live there), you will have the same problems we currently have. Our high schools have really good CTE programs for kids who want to start careers out of HS instead of going to university. Elementary and MS depend on which school and how much involvement you can put in to your child’s education.

I like Pf because it’s quiet. If I want fancy or fun, I’ll drive to other areas for a day or night out. I’m mid 30s and boring. I really enjoy using the trails around town and being able to drive or bike places relatively easily.
