What's it like to live in Los Olivos?

I’m a big fan of the Santa Ynez Valley—Los Olivos, Solvang, etc are beautiful with great food even if you’re not into wine, and they have miles and miles of rolling hills, lakes and reservoirs, and scenic drives, including over to Santa Barbara for some beach time or down to Ojai for more rustic agrarian vibes and even more hiking and exploring. Stopping for lunch in Ojai on your way to Santa Ynez before spending the night in the valley (camping at the lake or staying at a luxury hotel — both are available!) then driving over the clouds to Santa Barbara the next day and taking highway 1 back to LA is a great weekend road trip!

Solvang is great but don't skip out on Los Olivos right up the road. Solvang is cute but a little too touristy for my taste. Definitely get some danish and butter cookies while there though. Los Olivos has some nicer stores and some great tasting rooms. My favorite place to eat there is the Los Olivos Wine Merchant and Cafe that is towards the end of the street. Never had a bad thing there.

Your wife should also head up to Ojai on one of her days by herself. Lots of cute stuff to see and some very good restaurants.

I'm not big on the art scene so I can't really recommend much there, and I make better Italian food than most restaurants so I haven't been to one of those since before COVID. My favorite Mexican place is Los Agaves but that is in Santa Barbara (there are two locations). They used to have a location in Oxnard but it closed recently.

It is a nice quiet town, great to raise children. Right next-door to the popular Solvang, where you can get their famous abelskever. Many shops and stores to go into. Nearby schools are one of the best. The scenery in many parts are breath-taking.
