About the Program
The Paducah Remote Worker Incentive Program offers eligible remote workers $5,000 to establish a primary residence in Paducah, Kentucky. Participants also receive locally provided benefits intended to help them experience the community and establish professional and social connections.
The City of Paducah simplified the program in 2025 by changing the financial benefit from a reimbursement to a direct cash incentive.
What Applicants Should Know
Applicants must apply and receive approval before moving. Moving to Paducah before being accepted does not establish eligibility for the incentive.
The new residence must be located within Paducah’s city limits. A Paducah mailing address does not necessarily mean that a property is inside the eligible area.
Participants must maintain their primary residence in Paducah for the initial 12-month program and for at least one additional year.
Eligibility Requirements
An applicant must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident or otherwise authorized to work in the United States
- Live at least 100 miles outside Paducah’s city limits when applying
- Earn at least $40,000 annually
- Work full-time for a company whose offices are located at least 100 miles outside Paducah, or be self-employed and able to retain an existing business or client portfolio after relocating
- Perform most employment duties remotely from a home office or coworking space within Paducah
- Establish a primary residence within Paducah’s city limits within three months of acceptance
- Provide a qualifying lease or property deed as proof of residency
- Maintain primary residency in Paducah for two years
- Agree not to participate simultaneously in another publicly funded program or initiative
Remote employees may be required to provide written documentation from their employer confirming that their work can be performed remotely from Paducah.
Cash Incentive and Payment
The $5,000 cash incentive is paid in two installments:
- First payment: $2,500 after the participant establishes and verifies primary residency in Paducah
- Second payment: $2,500 on the first anniversary of the participant’s relocation
Participants must continue satisfying the program’s residency and employment requirements to receive the second payment.
Additional Community Benefits
Participants may receive cultural, educational and professional benefits. The current program highlights:
- A one-year Sprocket coworking membership, with the first six months free and the following six months discounted by 50%
- A one-year Paducah Young Professionals membership
- Tickets, passes, training, memberships or experiences from participating local organizations
Participating organizations and individual benefits may change based on availability.
Confirm That a Property Is Eligible
A home or apartment must be physically located within Paducah’s city limits. Applicants should verify an address before signing a lease or purchasing a home.
How to Apply
Complete the online application before relocating. Applicants who appear eligible may be asked to provide documentation confirming their income, employment, remote-work arrangement and current residence.
